2006 Motor Corps Picnic ...
The day was filled with good food, fellowship and a great time for all.
Chief
Rabban, Jerry Markovich along with some help from Assistant Rabban, Ron Elliott, took care of the grilling duties. Jerry's expertise as the official grill master for the Motor Corps over
the years, produced taste defying combinations of special sauces. Folks who like that open grill taste loved the grilled Pork Tenderloins, flame grilled burgers and our thick, juicy hotdog's.
That along with the fixing's of the ladies, made this years pitch-in feast one to brag about to even the finest chefs in Indiana.
It was a steady steam of people arriving throughout the day. The best time was probably had by Jerry and Elaine Barker's eighteen month old grandson; people were wanting in line to
hold him. Although the total number of participants isn't quite clear, it pushed close to one hundred.
Everyone enjoyed themselves and a large tent borrowed from the Logansport Shrine Club helped provide shade for all.
It was great to see Doug and Ann Hodson make it to the picnic after their unfortunate
motorcycle accident at Kerbela Fun Fest. Doug expressed his and Ann's heart felt appreciation for all the cards, flowers and concern everyone had while in the hospital. But Shriners wouldn't
be the organization they are without having the compassion we have towards our fellow man.
We would like to
thank everyone who helped set up on Thursday evening and tear down the tents after the picnic. Special thanks go out to Jerry Barker, Michael O'Malia and Jim Morgan for taking on the
shopping duties, and to Ron McGee for hosting the picnic at his beautiful home.
If you missed this years picnic, I would put a special note on your refrigerator for next year. This
is one family event not to miss.
